General Contractor: Michael Mitchell is the Executive Vice President of Preconstruction & Business Development at Fortune-Johnson LLC. Over his 15 years at the company, Michael has shaped the preconstruction department and expanded Fortune-Johnson’s Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic footprint. His responsibilities include pursuing new deals, constructing new client relationships, creating strategic client development opportunities, and managing subcontractor relationships. With an 18-year tenure in the construction industry, Michael has contributed to the completion of over 9,000 units with a construction value of more than $1.3 billon. Prior to his current role, he served as assistant project manager, assistant superintendent, and senior estimator, gaining comprehensive experience in wood frame multifamily construction. Michael holds a bachelor's degree in Building Science from Auburn University and a master's degree in Building Construction from Georgia Tech. Michael has actively served on the ABC of Georgia’s Membership Development Committee for seven years and chaired the committee from 2019-2022. Michael has been involved with ABC for close to 17 years. The Future Leaders program was one of his first opportunities to get involved. This program was extremely influential in his career and trajectory in Fortune-Johnson. Michael is also very active in all networking events, Chili Cookoff being the most fun! Michael lives in Dunwoody with his wife Abigail, and children Charlotte, Millie Taylor, and Strut. When not at work, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, kids sporting events, Auburn Football, fishing, and playing golf.
