Jim Tomak: Balfour Beatty

General Contractor. With over 35 years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry, including the last 20 years in the Atlanta market, Jim currently serves as a Senior Project Manager with Balfour Beatty. His career includes 18 years with Smallwood Reynolds Stewart Stewart & Associates, where he led the firm’s construction administration services. Prior to relocating to Atlanta, he worked in Southwest Michigan as a project manager for a general contractor. Throughout his time in Atlanta, he has actively contributed to the industry through involvement in numerous professional organizations, including NAIOP, ULI, CTBUH, and AHA. He also served as a board member for the Georgia Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute. Additionally, he has shared his expertise as both a panelist and moderator for several Bisnow events, focusing on topics related to construction and design. His connection with Associated Builders and Contractors began in Michigan, where he first recognized ABC as one of the most valuable trade organizations in the industry—a belief he continues to hold today. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for ABC of Georgia and has long been an active member of the Education Committee, as well as a participant in the chapter’s political initiatives. A passionate advocate for ABC’s educational programs, he has also mentored several alumni of the Future Leaders Program. His passion for the industry continues to drive his commitment to building professional relationships, continuous learning, and sharing knowledge and experience with others. He looks forward to continuing this mission through his involvement with ABC.
