Specialty Contractor: Chris Cox serves as Vice President of Steel Clad, an architectural façade and construction company with eight offices across the Eastern United States, including its primary locations in Greenville, SC, and Carrollton, GA. Since joining the company in 2018, Chris has been instrumental in growing Steel Clad from a $28 million business to a $96 million enterprise. In his leadership role, Chris oversees day-to-day operations while managing sales, design assist, budgeting, manpower, and shop coordination. Under his guidance, Steel Clad has launched several key initiatives, including the establishment of a dedicated QA/QC team, the creation of a full-time Safety team, and the adoption of 3-D modeling technology across all projects. Chris’s passion for construction began at age 16. He earned his degree in Industrial Engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2004 and started his career in general construction. He transitioned to the architectural façade sector in 2008, where his expertise and vision have made him a sought-after collaborator in complex design-build projects. His portfolio includes high-profile work such as Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney, the SK Battery Plant, numerous Amazon Sort Facilities, and his current involvement in transforming a 7.5-acre site into the Centennial Yards Entertainment District in Atlanta, GA. Chris is actively engaged in the construction industry through his involvement with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), where he contributes to the Legislative and Membership Committees and sponsors key initiatives like YoPro, EIC Awards, Women in Construction, and Safety events. He also participates in organizations such as 7x24 Data Center Group, CCC, AIA Georgia, and AIA Atlanta. Beyond his professional commitments, Chris is dedicated to giving back to his community. He supports local high school and middle school booster clubs and works with area schools to assist families throughout the year, particularly during the holiday season. In his free time, Chris enjoys working on his new home with his 12-year-old daughter Natasha, staying active at the gym, and hitting the golf course—when time and talent allow.
