FUTURE LEADERS PROGRAM 
ABC's Future Leaders Program is a year-long series of educational events designed to enhance the leadership skills and knowledge of young high-potential construction professionals. Future Leaders creates opportunities and provides avenues for young professionals to enhance their leadership abilities and increase involvement in ABC and the construction industry.
 

Through eleven monthly educational sessions, peer-to-peer networking and community involvement, ABC's Future Leaders program prepares young professionals for leadership roles within their company and with ABC.

Program Content

A variety of essential topics will be presented throughout the year including:

  • Perspectives from Industry Leaders
  • Managing People
  • Presentation Skills
  • Financial Management for Non-Financial Managers
  • Negotiating
  • Dealing with Negative Behavior
  • Communication Skills
  • Team Leadership
  • Creative Problem-Solving and Decision-Making

    Who is Eligible?
    Individuals between the ages of 25-40 are eligible for ABC’s Future Leaders Program. It is preferable that nominated individuals have current or future management and decision-making responsibility and have been with their company for at least a year. Due to limited space of 35 participants, this program is limited to employees of ABC member companies. Companies must renew their membership for 2008, and their 2008 dues must be paid by January 11. (Participants whose company has not paid their 2008 dues will be charged a $500 non-member surcharge to participate in the program.) Companies may nominate more than one employee. However, depending on demand, the number of employees per company may be limited.

    When Do the Future Leaders Meet?
    The Future Leaders group meets the second Tuesday of each month from January through November, usually from 4:00-6:30 p.m.

    How Does One Apply?
    To apply for Future Leaders, interested individuals must be nominated by their boss or another executive at their company. Company executives should complete the application below and return it to ABC by December 1. The executive and his or her nominee(s) will then receive a questionnaire to complete. All questionnaires will be reviewed by ABC's Management Education Committee. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance shortly thereafter. The program is limited to 35 individuals per year.

    What is the Cost?
    The cost for the full-year Future Leaders Program is $595 per person for ABC members.
