Committees, Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) and Task Groups

ABC member firms and volunteers are the lifeblood of the association. ABC's numerous and varying committees, task groups and shared interest groups offer individuals the opportunity to participate and have a voice in the affairs of the association. If you are interested in joining one of these groups, contact the Chair or the staff liaison.

Committees are made up of ABC members for a specific function, focusing on a common goal.

Comm/Tech Committee
The purpose of the Comm/Tech Committee is to support ABC’s mission by developing and implementing best practices to communicate effectively and efficiently with ABC’s current and future members. While this committee is made up of marketing and business development professionals, it is open to anyone who wants to help guide the communication strategies of the chapter. This committee usually meets one morning a quarter at ABC Headquarters, with schedule conference calls throughout the year.

Education Committee
ABC is committed to quality education and professional development for its members. ABC's Education Committee plans and implements educational programs to equip ABC member employees with the information and skills they need to run successful and profitable operations. These programs are designed to help member employees build relationships across industry segments. Over the years, the Education Committee has developed some of ABC's most successful educational offerings, including two recent favorites: Construction Academy and Concrete 101. This committee usually meets on the second Wednesday of each month for lunch, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at ABC Headquarters.

Membership Development Committee
This committee directs ABC's member recruitment and retention activities. This committee usually meets the second Friday of each month from 8:30 am - 10:00 am at ABC Headquarters.

Task Groups

Task Groups are comprised of ABC members with a specific task in mind.

Governmental Affairs/Legislative/PAC Task Group
This group of ABC members are responsible for identifying the governmental and legal issues impacting Georgia's construction industry. It communicates to Georgia's delegation ABC's position on important issues and seeks support for proposed legislation. This is a "just-in-time" task group that communicates via emails and conference calls. It meets in person to address time-sensitive issues. In-person meetings are usually held during lunch, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at ABC Headquarters.

A Political Action Committee (PAC) sub-task group helps raise funds for ABC's Federal and State PACs. It also identifies candidates, especially at the state and local levels, who represent ABC's philosophies, and support them through contributions and endorsements.

To join the Governmental Affairs/Legislative/PAC Task Group, please contact Bill Anderson.
